Baggage Rules
Deccan, India's premier low cost airline lays a lot of emphasis
on proper baggage handling and it is our constant endeavor to make
sure that we have the least number of short shipped bags. Like most
other airlines, our baggage handling is outsourced to outside agencies
and at times bags do get misplaced. For your convenience we have
listed below a few pointers on how to avoid misplacement of baggage
along with our baggage policies.

How much baggage can I check-in on my Deccan flight? |

Each Guest (excluding infants) is allowed a maximum
of 15 kgs checked in baggage. Excess baggage beyond
15 kgs is charged at Rs 70/- per kg. Deccan
reserves the right to offload baggage incase of overload
on any flight.
Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage
is allowed on flights departing from the Jammu and Srinagar
airports, however checked-in baggage allowance is 25 kgs
per Guest on these flights.

How much cabin baggage (un-checked baggage)
can I bring aboard my Deccan flight? |

Guests are permitted to carry only one piece of Cabin Baggage each (excluding infants)
weighing a maximum of 10 Kgs per Guest and not exceeding:
- 20x14x9 inches in dimension for Airbus flights.
- 20x13x9 inches in dimensions for ATR flights.
If your hand baggage exceeds the stated limits it will have to be checked in.
In the event that your total checked-in baggage exceeds the free allowance, an excess
baggage charge of Rs 70/- per kg will be incurred. It is recommended that all valuable articles are
only carried in your hand baggage.

Can I carry a Laptop as Cabin Baggage? |

Laptops are permitted to be carried on board the aircraft,
in addition to one piece of cabin baggage.

Can I carry excess baggage? |
|
 |
In the event that your total checked-in baggage exceeds
the free allowance, an excess baggage charge of Rs 70/-
per kg will be incurred. It is recommended that all
valuable articles are only carried in your cabin baggage.

What happens if at the check in counter, I discover that I have excess baggage? |
|
 |
Any baggage brought to the check-in counter on the
date of departure that exceeds the available weight
is considered excess baggage and is chargeable at the
rate published.

Does Deccan have any special baggage allowance for international Guests? |
|
 |
Deccan does not have a special baggage allowance
for international Guests. The baggage allowance
is the same for all Guests as mentioned above.

With upgraded security of aircrafts, what items am I not permitted to carry onboard the flight? |
|
 |
Recently, there has been an increase in the level of
security onboard all aircraft. Guests are not allowed
to bring any sharp objects onto the aircraft. This includes
nail clippers, scissors, razors, blades, bulbs, batteries
or any other object that may be considered dangerous.
The airline will not be held responsible for any such
item, which is taken over by airport security agencies.
Guests travelling on any Deccan ATR flight are not allowed to carry Arms and Ammunition.

What items are prohibited in checked-in baggage? |
|
 |
For safety reasons, dangerous articles such as those
listed below, must not be carried in Guest's baggage.
Specifically: Compressed gases, Corrosives, Explosives,
Flammable liquids and solids, Radioactive materials,
Briefcases with installed alarm devices, Oxidising materials,
Poisons, Medicines and Toiletries. Furthermore, sharp
metal objects should not be carried in your hand luggage.
The following items should not be packed to your checked
baggage, but should be carried with you at all times:
medicines, jewellery, money, securities, negotiable
papers, documents, samples, other valuable and fragile
items. Also, food in semi-solid or liquid condition
should be packed in wooden boxes lined in with absorbent
material, in order not to cause damage to others from
possible leakages.
Guests travelling on any Deccan ATR flight are not allowed to carry Arms and Ammunition.

If my baggage is not traceable, am I entitled
to some compensation? |
|
 |
In the event of loss to baggage the airline's liability
is limited to Rs 450/- per kilo for checked-in baggage,
provided, loss of baggage has been reported to the airline,
prior to leaving the airport on the day of the loss
and if not traced within 7 days.

What do I do if my checked-in baggage does
not reach the destination? |
|
 |
In the event of your baggage not reaching the destination
on time, immediately report to the airport counter at
the destination. Please fill the 'Property Irregularity
Report' (PIR) and submit the same at the counter. Deccan will try and trace your baggage at the earliest. You may also write a mail to baggage@airdeccan.net.

What is the procedure followed by Deccan in identifying, recovering and returning my lost
baggage? |
|
 |
In the event of mishandled baggage, we send out baggage
tracers across our network to have the baggage recovered
and delivered to the Guest at the earliest possible.
The Trace process could take between 1 to 7 days. Upon
recovery the Guest is intimated and the baggage
is handed over, after necessary validation.

Are prams and infant seats allowed on the
flight? |
|
 |
Prams and infant seats are not allowed on board Deccan flights. The same can however be checked into
the cargo hold, as part of check in baggage. Prams and
Infant seats are not charged , as excess baggage.

Can I purchase an extra seat for comfort
or to carry valuable / fragile items? |
|
 |
An extra seat can be purchased incase Guests desire.
Both tickets would need to be produced at the check
in counter and boarding passes will be issued accordingly.

Does Deccan carry cargo? |
|
 |
Deccan does not carry Cargo at present.
|
 |
Does Deccan carry human remains
/ ashes? |
|
 |
No, we do not permit carriage of human remains. Ashes can be carried,
if accompanied with a Guest traveling on the flight.
|
 |
Can I bring my sports equipment / musical
instruments etc on board the flight? |
|
 |
Sports equipment and musical instruments cannot be
taken on board the aircraft. The same would need to
suitably packed and checked in and will be placed in
the cargo hold. Applicable excess baggage charges would
be levied as per laid down airline policy.

Who do I contact in case of any baggage
handling issues? |
|
