What is the Deccan Domestic Travel Insurance scheme?

The Domestic Travel Insurance scheme is an insurance program offered by the ICICI Lombard General Insurance and has been especially designed for the Guests of Deccan Aviation Ltd.

This program is designed keeping the domestic travelers needs in mind and is available via the Deccan Aviation Ltd. online booking system. Please note that the program was launched on 28th March 2008 and is not available for flight bookings prior to that date.
How do I purchase a Domestic Travel Insurance policy?
Guests can purchase the Domestic Travel Insurance policy while booking for their flight/s through:
  • The Internet through the Deccan website (www.airdeccan.net)
  • Travel Agents
What is the validity period of my policy?

Domestic Travel Insurance covers the Guest/s for a period of 30 days from the date of inception of policy, which is the commencement date of journey on Deccan Aviation Ltd. In case of a round trip purchased on Deccan Aviation Ltd the coverage will end with the return journey to the originating station or 30 days from the date of commencement of policy which ever is earlier. (If you are traveling one-way only, then the policy is valid till 30 days from the date of travel.
Example - Suppose you are traveling Delhi - Mumbai on 1st Jan 2007, then you are covered till 30th Jan 2007, even though your travel with Deccan Aviation Ltd was completed on 1st Jan 2007).
But if you are coming back to origin, either by a return flight or connecting flight(s) with Deccan Aviation Ltd or any other traveling media, then the travel policy expires on the date on which you reach your originating city.
Example-1 - If you are traveling from Delhi to Mumbai on 1st Jan 07 and returning back to Delhi on 15th Jan 2007 your policy expires on 15th Jan 2007 after completion of the travel.

Can I purchase a Domestic Travel Insurance policy if I'm traveling for more than 30 days?

Yes you can buy a Domestic Travel Insurance policy if you are traveling for more then 30 days. However your policy will expire after 30 days from the commencement date.

Am I still covered by the Domestic Travel Insurance if I catch a connecting flight other than Deccan Aviation Ltd. flight to a different destination?

Coverage like trip cancellation & interruption, baggage loss & delay are only limited to Deccan Aviation Ltd. flights. Only Hospitalization expenses due to injury is applicable during the validity period of the policy.
For example, if you are traveling From Delhi to Chennai via Mumbai, you take Delhi to Mumbai flight on Deccan Aviation Ltd. and from Mumbai to Chennai you take a mode of transport other than Deccan Aviation Ltd.
On your Deccan Aviation Ltd. flight (Delhi-Mumbai) all the covers will be applicable & for the connecting flight (Mumbai-Chennai) you would be entitled only for the hospitalization expenses due to injury.

Who would be the beneficiary under this policy?
All benefits are payable to the Insured Person.
Can I cancel my Domestic Travel Insurance Policy?
  • Cancellation of this policy is subject to cancellation of Deccan Aviation Ticket (PNR), which may be done only prior to the effective date, stated in the policy schedule.
  • The single trip Insurance cannot be renewed, cancelled or refunded while effective.
Once I purchase the policy can I change the date of my travel?

Yes, the policy will automatically begin from the rescheduled date of travel.

Do I have to carry a copy of my Certificate of Insurance with me when traveling?

We encourage you to carry a copy of your Certificate of Insurance. However, please ensure that you have at least your Certificate Number and the ICICI Lombard 24-hour assistance service number 1800-209-8888 (All India Toll Free number accessible from all Landlines & mobile phones) saved on your phone.

What do I do if I did not receive or have lost my Certificate of Insurance?

If your Domestic Travel Insurance was successfully processed, it is sent to you via email at your email id and your policy copy will also be available within the logged in section of www.icicilombard.com.

To get a copy, simply
  • Call: ICICI Lombard Call Centre on 1800-209-8888 (All India Toll Free number accessible from all landlines & mobile phones).
  • Log on: To www.icicilombard.com enter your ticket number to retrieve the policy certificate.
  • Email at: customersupport@icicilombard.com.
